Bethany Davis
Teacher, Choreographer, Performer, Artist
Biography
Bethany grew up in South Jordan, Utah and began dancing at the age of 3. She grew up training in jazz, lyrical, tap and ballet as well as competed with a few competition teams in Utah. Bethany attended Brigham Young University Idaho and received her BA in Dance Performance and Choreography with honors through NHSDA. During her time at BYU-Idaho Bethany had many amazing opportunities such as performing with, choreographing for and directing the Collegiate Dancers, performing and touring with Dance Alliance, participating in a research and creative works conference as both choreographer and judge, teaching the entry level jazz dance class on campus for over a year, and producing a screendance film which was chosen as an official selection in the Idaho Screendance Film Festival at Boise State University. She was also able to certify as a yoga instructor with Yoga Alliance through her coursework and an intensive.
Bethany had the pleasure of serving the dance department by volunteering on the Dance Society council for three years and acting as the society’s president. While serving on the council she had opportunities to organize lectures, workshops, trips, a department banquet and an annual alumni reception.
Since college Bethany's love and passion for teaching has grown as she's had the opportunity to teach combo classes for youth at The Classical Ballet Conservatory and temporarily run the dance program at Paradigm Schools while their current director was on maternity leave.
Bethany is always seeking new challenges which will help her learn and grow in the art of movement which she loves with her whole heart and soul, as well as opportunities to serve and guide others.

Teaching Philosophy
I will create a community of trust among my students by eliminating negative competition and debilitating fear in my classroom. To do so is to create an environment in which my students will develop a true desire to move and grow for themselves.
Artist Statement
I dance because it is an effective mode by which I can connect with others, myself and the world around me. It is the vehicle by which I have the greatest potential to make an impact on the world. Practicing dance helps me discover ways I can improve myself physically, mentally and socially, as well as help inspire constant change and personal growth.
As I have grown up training in many different styles, my choreographic style seems to be a melting pot of sorts. Jazz, ballet, contemporary, modern and tap all heavily influence my work and process.
My work tends more toward the new age approaches and concepts of the dance world. New technological, scientific and social advances and ideas spark most choreographic endeavors.
I aspire to create movement which all of my audience members can relate to. I want my audiences to see a piece of themselves in my shows and be inspired to go do something new.
